“We’re not a brand, we’re a brand that makes clothes,” cofounder Andrew Pimentel told Recode in an interview last week.
Pimentell says that he thinks that fashion brands have a tendency to look for ways to cash in on fashion trends.
“They’re the ones who are going to say, ‘Hey, we can have a product that’s just slightly different from this,'” he said.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t know, I’m not sure.’
It’s like, you can have the same exact design, but you’re going to have a brand and a person that will make a difference.”
The Newyork-based fashion brand, which sells a range of clothing and accessories like jackets, dresses, t-shirts, shoes, and bathrobes, is targeting millennial consumers.
The company says that its goal is to bring a more casual and personal approach to clothes.
“It’s a different mindset,” Pimente said.
“[A millennial] is a very consumer-driven consumer.
They want to find something they like, and that’s really what we’re trying to capture.”
The company is launching the line with two products in the coming months: a women’s tank top that’s designed to be worn with jeans and sneakers, and a jacket that’s similar to an open-neck tee.
Pimentser says that it will offer both styles in a wide variety of sizes, as well as a range in materials and fabrics.
“You have a number of choices with the colors, so it’s not just the same basic fabric but it’s really going to be tailored to fit you,” he said, adding that it is available in a range from a simple knit, to a woven fabric, and even a fabric woven by bees.
The line will launch in the United States and Canada later this year.
